We survived the week and the floor is done. We visited the cats where they were boarding every day on the way home from work. They didn’t enjoy their time away, but we brought them home on Thursday evening and they seem to have forgiven us.
The tile is quite a difference from what we had before, and it took me a couple of days to get used to, but I think it turned out well.
The floor is a couple inches higher than it was – you can see the difference in the height of the stove compared to the counter; they used to be level. I can feel the difference when I’m standing at the counter. I like it; it puts the counters at a better height for me.
There used to be quite a height difference where the hardwood met the old kitchen floor, but they are almost even now, the tile is just a tiny bit higher.
And the carpet on the stairs is finally gone! I’m sure the cats will miss scratching it, but it will be easier to clean. Vacuuming cat hair off that carpet was almost impossible.
Resuming normal operations…
Now we just need to paint.
